My weekend started out Friday eve with work! When I finally went to bed at 1:00 I had canned 20 pint of salsa, 14 pint and a half jars of spaghetti sauce, 16 pint of sloppy joe sauce, and 12 jars of grape juice. I guess I don't even need to say that my feet were sore! Thankfully I had my hubby's help marking them and putting them away on Saturday. That's a job in itself!
ETA: pint or pints?
We had some friends over on Sunday. See previous post! Fun day!
We spend yesterday just hanging out. It was fun to relax with the four people that I love the most!
Our swing broke probably about a year ago....so the children were quite pleased to have it fixed!
Who says leftovers can't be fun?
It was fun to have a holiday weekend. Now it's back to school and the normal schedule. Whatever normal is!
"Swing!! Swing!!" said Arabella excitedly as she pointed to the picture. Can we come play? ok maybe next week after VA. We just stay away from home so then we don't have to clean our house... not a good plan. We did have a great r&r weekend with our little family. Who knew OHIO had so many beautiful places.
ReplyDeleteAll your jars look so pretty. The harvest keeps coming. Praise God for this season to prepare for the next. [just a thought I need to think about daily]Am I prepared for the next season of my life?... Our Lord Jesus's return?
love you,barbara
Yummy! I would love to know how you make your sloppy joe and spaghetti sauce. I have never tried to can them, I would love to. I love to go down and look at my shelves all lined up with canned food, but it really can be hard work.

ReplyDeleteI used recipes out of the Southern Fixin's cookbook. They're both Emily Boones recipes......I used raw juice like she says. (just blended the whole tomatoes in my food processor) I added 4 pounds of fried hamburger to the spaghetti sauce. I've never had the sloppy joe sauce before...so we'll see if we like it. I just had lots of tomatoes that I needed to do something with!
Also - the spag. sauce recipe says 1 1/2 clear jel. It doesn't specify cups or what. I just used a heaping cup. seemed thick enough.
Let me know if you try it!
You're right...it can be alot of work!
